OK then, let’s get cracking!
What is the explanation behind your blog name?
The Doubting Thomas is a name I picked because it featured my own name but also a little bit about my character – I’m a massive cynic and refuse to believe the majority of things until I’ve seen it with my own eyes or read it from a reputable source!
What is your main goal with blogging?
You know what, I just want something I can stick at. I’ve had blogs in the past but I’ve tried too hard to pigeon-hole it into a certain category and I haven’t been successful at growing it. I’m still a relatively small blog now but I’m really enjoying just writing more consistently and engaging with other bloggers. I’m not in it for anything more.
What skill would you like to learn?
I love my music and have always wanted to be able to play the drums; I asked my parents every year for a drum kit and was always (probably responsibly so) told no. I’m 30 now and I’m aware my road to stardom has probably been blocked now but I’d still love to learn someday!
What is your favourite film?
It’s a close call but I would have to say Blazing Saddles, a 1974 spoof western directed by Mel Brooks. It’s everything you might expect one of his films to be and I’ve loved it for years.
What city/country is top of your list to travel?
I’m not massively keen on travelling or hell-bent on ticking places off but I would love to go to New York and the US in general. The Big Apple at Christmas time would take some beating!
Who is/are your inspiration(s) when it comes to blogging?
It sounds strange but I don’t really have one particular inspiration – just those people like me who enjoy blogging alongside a full time job or juggling other responsibilities such as parenting or caring but are still committed enough and humble enough to put as much effort into other people as they are into their own. Bloggers like that are the ones I want to follow!
What would you do if you could have your perfect day off?
I love my wife and kids, I really do, but I feel I rarely get any time on my own these days! I would get out for a run early in the morning and then set myself up for the day in front of the TV with snacks and maybe chucking in some time to write too. I’m not overly adventurous!
Do you have a favourite sport? If yes, which one?
I’ve always loved my football and has always been a passion of mine, I do enjoy other sports too but none as much as that!
What is one inspirational quote or thing someone’s said to you that’s stuck with you?
“You can’t boil the ocean”.
It sounds strange but it’s basically saying don’t put yourself under pressure to do too much in one go; it’s really stuck with me because I always used to put myself down if I didn’t achieve loads in my life by a certain time or if I set myself unachievable tasks. It’s good to set goals but I’ve learnt not to put myself under too much stress because of them.
If you could invite 5 celebrities or inspirational people to dinner, who would you pick?
Pete Townshend – the lead guitarist and main songwriter from my favourite band, The Who.
Roger Daltrey – lead singer and other final remaining member of The Who
Ronnie Barker – one of the world’s greatest comedians and an absolute icon.
John Cleese – see above! (I would have had all of the Monty Python gang if I could)
James Corden – yeah you might view it as a bit of a strange one but I just have a lot of admiration for the guy! Very talented, very relatable and very funny.
I’ve completed one of these award posts recently so I think this time I’ll nominate 5 other bloggers I haven’t nominated before! Now I pass this onto…
Becca & Tom
You’re all awesome so it’s only right that you get in on the action (apologies if you already have, it’s sometimes hard to keep up!)
Now to ask some questions of my own! Here goes…
1 – What is your most embarrassing dating story?
2 – What is your biggest fear?
3 – When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
4 – Do you have a favourite West End musical or show?
5 – Do you have a hidden (not for long!) talent or “party piece”?
6 – What is your favourite holiday destination?
7 – Have you ever tried (or are you currently trying) internet dating?
8 – Do you have any family traditions?
9 – Are you a cat person or a dog person?
10 – Name 3 items you would take with you on a desert island?
Thank you again to Em for the nomination and to you guys for taking the time to read more of my ramblings – over to my fellow awesome bloggers!
Stay awesome 😜
